Done Chime for Claude
Last updated: June 2026
Overview
Done Chime for Claude is a Chrome extension that plays a chime sound and shows a browser notification when Claude (claude.ai) finishes generating a response, so you can step away and know the moment it's done.
Your privacy is the default, not a setting. The extension collects zero user data and everything it does runs locally in your browser.
Data we do not collect
The extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any of the following:
- Personal information of any kind
- Conversation content or anything you type into Claude
- Analytics, usage tracking, or telemetry
- Cookies or advertising identifiers
There are no servers, accounts, or third parties involved. Nothing leaves your device.
What the extension does
The extension watches the Claude tab to detect when a response has finished generating. When that happens, it plays a chime sound and shows a browser notification. That's the whole job.
Any preferences you set, such as volume and which sound to play, are
saved on your own device using the browser's local extension storage
(chrome.storage.local). They are never synced to a cloud
account, transmitted off your device, or sent to us or anyone else.
Permissions used
The extension requests only the permissions it needs to do that one job:
- Notifications: shows a browser notification alerting you when Claude has finished responding.
- Storage: saves your preferences (like volume and sound choice) on your device using local extension storage. Preferences are not synced to any cloud account.
- Host access to claude.ai: detects when Claude finishes responding on the page.
The extension uses no remote code. All of its logic is bundled in the extension and runs entirely within your browser. Nothing is downloaded or executed from a remote server, so the extension's behavior cannot change after you install it without an update you explicitly approve.
Your control over your data
You stay in full control of the only data the extension stores, your preferences:
- Preferences live solely in your browser's local extension storage on your own device.
- You can change or reset them at any time from the extension's popup.
- Uninstalling the extension removes its local storage and all preferences along with it.
Changes to this policy
If this privacy policy is ever updated, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the extension after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
